Rhythm bones have a history stretching back centuries in many cultures throughout the world, and were among the simple instruments brought to North America by the earliest Europeans. The rhythm of the bones contributed to the distinctive music of the new American nation as Anglo-Irish, African-American, and Creole influences came together to form unique new musical styles.

Our bones are crafted here in our Vermont shop from local hardwoods, most commonly cherry or maple. Pairs are packaged in a poly bag with history information and instructions.

This is a musical instrument, not a toy. Recommended for adults and children aged 8 years and above.
