10" Hand Drum
10" Hand Drum
The frame drum is a traditional instrument widespread in cultures throughout the world. Frame drums are crafted in marvelous variety, from the simple frame drum shown here to the most elaborately jingled and ringed instruments you can imagine. Inspired by this world of traditional instruments, Cooperman sets the standard for frame drums made for professional musicians; we also call back to the old traditions by handcrafting these very simple, small diameter drums, light weight and ready for beginners.
Our frame start in the Vermont woods where we select local native hardwood trees to mill. We use methods passed down through generations of sawyers and drum builders to create our single ply bent wood shells. These drums feature:
• Local Vermont Ash wood drum shell.
• Natural skin head.
• approx. 10” diameter x 2 1/2" depth.
• Instrument grade finish.
• Thumb hole for upright-playing style drumming.
• A colorful satin ribbon is attached around the seam where the head and shell meet for an attractive finish. The 2 1/2" depth of the shell gives this drum a full, resonant sound.
This is a musical instrument, not a toy. Not for children under 3. Recommended for adults and children aged 8 years and above.
