Pewter Dice Set – Lead-Free Reproduction of Early American Soldiers' Dice
Soldiers idle in camp were known to hammer musket balls into crude dice to while away the time; such dice have been unearthed at 18th century encampment sites.
Dicing games such as Hazard were popular 18th century tavern pastimes in the North American colonies and are considered forerunners of many modern dice games. While gambling was sometimes frowned upon, dice were a common household item, used not only in games of chance but also in a wide variety of early board games and everyday amusements.
