Minie Ball - Lead Free Pewter Reproduction
In 1855, the U.S. Infantry adopted new standards for small arms, introducing .58 caliber muzzle-loading rifles and rifle muskets designed to fire the revolutionary Minié ball. Named for its inventor, Claude-Étienne Minié, this conical bullet greatly improved accuracy, range, and ease of loading—marking a major development in the history of military technology and playing a key role in mid-19th century warfare.
Our Minié ball reproduction is cast in Vermont from lead-free pewter, carefully made to approximate the size and weight of original examples. Each piece is packaged in a poly bag with a history card, making it ideal for educational programs.
